I’m a firm believer in creativity starting from within. Whether it’s a logo design, print advertising or a craft beer label - the vision starts with an idea. A creative thought that is put on paper first. The computer is merely a tool to polish and finesse the concept. Good design isn’t a one-click process. It isn’t an app, and it’s certainly not a template. It’s a custom and unique ability and talent.

I’m passionate about ink illustrating. My process begins with a pencil sketch, hand inked lines and ends with digital coloring in Photoshop or Procreate. Then, I pair my hand-crafted work with a seasoned graphic design background to create dynamic and eye-catching layouts and design. Hoot is a creative studio that combines the art of graphic design and illustration.

Hi, I’m Jen Borror an illustration artist and graphic designer working out of York, Pennsylvania. I specialize in pen and ink artwork, brewery branding and beverage packaging design. - especially craft beer labels! Simply put, I solve problems with dots! Yes, some of my drawings are stippled with 1000’s of tiny ink dots. Dotwork illustrating is one of my top skills.
Equipped with 15 years experience, my studio offers graphic design and illustration that works just as hard as you do. No cutting corners, no smoke and mirrors. Straight forward original art, hand crafted illustrations and engaging design.
So what’s my story?
I’ve worked in the design and marketing industry since 2004. After the passing of my father in 2019, I was fueled with ambition to open my own design studio and focus on my craft: pen and ink illustrating. During my father’s journey with dementia, I would catch glimpses of the man I once knew and he often reminded me “Life is short, Jenny do what you love now while you have time.” Words that will forever guide me in my entrepreneurship.
After being in remission from Crohn’s disease for almost 10 years, my autoimmune disorder decided to surface shortly after the passing of my Father. I knew then it was time to make the leap of faith and open Jen’s Creative Designs LLC. This rewarding career choice allowed me to work from home after 15 years designing for advertising agencies including a designer at York Wallcoverings. I re-branded my company into a DBA: Hoot Design Studio as I began focusing in on illustration and packaging design - my true passion. With a toolbox of experience in branding, creative layout and production I provide custom solutions to help you stand out from the noise.
I enjoy working with forward thinking companies looking for one-of-a-kind designs and innovation to match their brands. My detailed yet minimalistic and organic drawings elevate the look of craft beer labels, packaging, T-shirts, editorials, apparel, surface design and so much more.
The creative process begins with an idea. A tailor-made thought that is first expressed with pencil and paper.
Oh … and of course coffee! But, no seriously - good design flows from the think tank on my shoulders to paper in its original form. Once a concept is brainstormed and carefully thought out and explored, then I start in designing on that magic box I call my iMac.
